KHAR: One militant was killed and several others injured during ongoing operation against Taliban in scattered areas of restive Bajaur Agency on Wednesday.
Official sources said that security forces, backed by artillery fire, gunship helicopters and mortar guns, pounded militants' positions at Tehsil Mamond's areas Gangi, Damangi and Kharkay and dismantled their several dens and hideouts.
The sources feared death of several militants in the offensive. The troops have made advancement in the troubled areas of Tehsil Nawagai and have started patrolling.
Meanwhile, local administration have further strengthened security in the agency and established check posts for safety of people.
The administration has launched crackdown against miscreants at Feeja and its adjoining areas near the agency's headquarters Khar after some unknown miscreants fired rockets at security check post the other night.
Assistant Political Agent Khar, Iqbal Khattak told reporters that 55 people have been arrested under FCR during different raids in this connection. He said that interrogation has been started and elements involved in the attack would be brought to justice. |
